Welcome
The Essex Autistic Society exists to 'promote the welfare, education and care' of people with autism and in so doing supports and encourages their families, friends and carers. To this end, we work closely with a number of support groups and branches in the area.
Based in Colchester, The Essex Autistic Society provides education, care and support to people with autism from all across the UK.
Our website includes information about autism; the services we provide for children and adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and the many ways in which you can help the Society continue providing for the future.
Autism Alert Cards
The Essex Autistic Society is proud to have launched the Autism Alert Card.
The cards have been produced in conjuction with Essex Police and Suffolk Constabulary and are available FREE to anyone who has an autism spectrum condition. The card will help the public and emergency services quickly identify that they are dealing with someone who has autism. They have the cardholder's name and emergency contact numbers and offer some simple advice about dealing with someone who has autism.
The cards were officially launched during Autism Awareness Week (1st - 7th October 2007) where Bob Russell MP presented a giant version of the card to a young boy with autism.
If you would like a card, or know of someone who would benefit, please contact our Family Support Team on 01206 577678. Alternatively an application form can be downloaded here and returned to our Head Office address (please note proof of diagnosis is required before a card can be issued).
We would like to thank Autism West Midlands , Essex Police and Suffolk Constabulary for their help and supoprt in the production of the Autism Alert Cards.
